Absolutely Speechless
My friends, I am speechless.
I posted our ChipIn this morning in a state of total panic and despair over our situation. Asking for help is so hard, and while I was hopeful that we would receive some funds to help us towards the cost of replacing our passports I never imagined such an overwhelming amount of support and generosity.
Truly, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Not just for the donations, but for how it has lifted my spirits to see so many people loving and supporting our family through this incredibly awful trial. To say I have been sad the last two days would be the understatement of the year. Despondent, really. I have cried so many tears over this situation, and felt so helpless about what to do next to try and get us back on track. I have wondered why this would happen to us, especially now. I have been so, so very angry.
And then today. Today I am just reminded how much the good in my life far outweighs the bad. I am reminded that the success of this adoption is on so many people's hearts and minds....that we are not alone in enduring the pain and emotional anguish of what was done to us. You all have lifted such a great burden off my heart and mind, and I want you all to know how utterly amazed I am to be the receiver of such kindness and love.
That said, I received messages from 3 friends today who found information that (in my panic-stricken and very shaken emotional state) I had not found. There is apparently a passport issuing agency in our state, a bit over an hour from my house.
The Colorado Passport Agency
Here, hopefully, we should be able to get our passports at a much more reasonable price of about $170 per person. When I call the automated number it says you need to be travelling within 14 days, but on the website it clearly states you do not need an appointment or immediate travel plans. So, we are going to go first thing Monday morning, explain our situation with all our adoption paperwork, and see if we can walk-in and get our passports done. Online with the general passport information it still says processing times are 2-3 weeks for expedited passports, but this particular web page says 5 days tops.
This. Would. Be. A. Miracle.
We live in one of THREE states that allows walk-ins for this particular service.
If we are not able to obtain our passports this way in the same time frame, we will be back to Plan A which I wrote about this morning.
However, in the event that we are able to get our passports ASAP without the exorbitant cost I would like to extend to each and every person who donated to this cause an absolute, 100% refund of their money. Your support and immediate response to fill our desperate need was so good for my heart and soul, but I did not have any intentions of collecting money for anything but this need. Since everything was done through Paypal it should not be difficult to refund the donations to everyone if necessary.
We will know for certain on Monday what our course of action will be. I will post it here on my blog and on facebook.
If anyone who donated would like a refund now, please send me an email at mycamokids@gmail.com and know that I will honor your request without hesitation.
Thank you again, to each and every one of you, for reminding us that the world is not a dark and scary place full of those who would take advantage of, steal from, or victimize others. Thank you again for lifting us up in our time of need, for showing us such concern and support. Thank you for loving Tanner with us, and for wanting him home as much as we do. I know that someday he will read this, as part of his adoption story, and be moved by the outpouring of love.
